Macarena is project manager and trainer for DevAlto technologies, a Canadian company based in Québec city, specializing in the implementation of software solutions for the monitoring and evaluation of international development projects. She completed her master’s program in International Relations at the Hautes Études Internationales of Université Laval, where she was also president of the student association.

As part of her master’s program she interned in the Québec National Assembly’s international relations department where she got first hand knowledge on the behind the scenes of international relations initiatives for the province of Québec. She also volunteers as blogger for Québec international, helping potential newcomers to easily transition through their journey.

Recipient of Global Affair’s Emerging Leaders in the Americas scholarship, Macarena was a member of the International, Humanitarian and Criminal Law clinic of Université Laval, where she got to work hand in hand with Lawyers without borders specifically in the creation of a brief for transitional justice options in Colombia.

Passionate about the environment and human rights, she has professional experience in Africa, North and South America and joins Young Diplomat’s of Canada team as Program Coordinator.
