PRESS RELEASE: New Partner: World Urban Campaign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA, CANADA – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2016

Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC) is proud to partner with the World Urban Campaign (WUC),  an advocacy platform coordinated by UN-Habitat which is driven by over 100 partners from around the world. The Campaign aims ‘’to raise awareness about positive urban change  in order to achieve green, productive, safe, healthy, inclusive, and well planned cities’’.

As a legacy from the Habitat II Conference held in 1996, the WUC is playing an important role in shaping the conversation prior to the Habitat III Conference to be held October 2016 in Quito.

As our Executive Director and  North American Representative for the UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board Olivia Labonté shares:

With the New Urban Agenda being decided in Quito this fall, the World Urban Campaign is an essential part of that process. The Campaign provides a platform from which multi-lateral partners from across all sectors can join forces to tackle the world's most pressing urban issues. As the North American Youth Advisor for UN-Habitat as well as a member of the World Urban Campaign's standing committee, I am excited for the many youth targeted initiatives that have emerged from the work of both bodies including the urban thinkers campuses. The Youth Advisory Board, Young Diplomats of Canada and many of our partners will continue working with the World Urban Campaign to ensure the outcomes of Habitat III are beneficial to the global youth.

We invite you to join the conversation, think, share, and act on the global partnership platform for #UrbanThinkers and to visit the World Urban Campaign’s website .
