After a highly competitive national search, Delegates were selected to represent the perspectives and insights of Canadian youth during Argentina’s G20 Presidency.
The YDC 2018 Y20 Summit delegation:
The Y20 is a Formal G20 Engagement Group that brings together nationally selected youth delegates from every G20 Member State to negotiate and present policy recommendations to G20 Leaders. This year, the Y20 will also deliver over 20 social entrepreneurship projects to drive real impact worldwide within the themes of education for development and preparing youth for the future of work.
“Youth have shown they are passionate about the future of work and gender equality, as seen in our strong voter turnout the past Canadian federal election,” commented YDC Delegate Fahim Rahman, “we’re eager to make a difference by including youth, G20 leaders will be able to address important issues with a focus on sustainable and inclusive growth for the future."
“I’m excited to work to engage minority and underrepresented groups at the Y20,” said YDC Delegate Aniqah Zowmi, “As a member of several minority groups, and having been both formally and experientially educated in the systemic ways in which these populations are marginalized at the highest levels of decision-making and policy creation, I hope that the Y20 will embrace a gender-based, systemic, and Indigenous perspective to the future of work.”
Young Diplomats of Canada is the Government of Canada’s national nominating partner for Canada’s Y20 2018 Delegation.
