Press Release: YDC sends young Canadians to the 2019 World Bank-International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings


OTTAWA, CANADA – April 5, 2019

The Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC) is proud to announce that five young Canadian leaders will be attending the World Bank/International Monetary Fund (WB/IMF) Spring Meetings from April 8 to 14, in Washington, DC.

The 2019 YDC delegation to the WB/IMF Spring Meetings:

  • Michael Fawcett Sarty, Head Delegate

  • Niki Kashefi, Communications Coordinator

  • Émanuel Grenier-Benoit

  • Shannon Hazlett

  • Maha Ali Khan

  • Catherine Nicole Bialas Giles  

Delegates were selected from a competitive pool of applicants after a rigorous national competition and will serve to represent the the voices, insights and ideas of Canadian youth at the Spring Meetings.

"The Spring Meetings offer delegates from around the world the opportunity to meet, discuss, and collaborate on today's most pressing issues,” said YDC Head Delegate Michael Fawcett Sarty, “We look forward to adding our voices into that conversation and ensuring that the youth perspective is well represented."

As part of their engagement at the Spring Meetings, Delegates will also attend a number of side meetings with high-level Canadian and international officials to share their insights on opportunities and challenges with youth engagement within international and national economic systems.
