Helen Hanbidge

Born and raised in Ottawa, Helen is keenly interested in policy and advocacy relating to international affairs and diversity and inclusion.

Helen is a policy analyst with the Government of Canada, and currently works in international affairs on early learning and child care files. Her federal government experience has also included policy work at the Privy Council Office and Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and international affairs work at Elections Canada and Global Affairs Canada.

Helen has a broad background in youth engagement and advocacy, and joins the YDC executive after serving as Communications Coordinator for the YDC delegation to the 2017 World Trade Organization Public Forum in Geneva, and joining a YDC delegation to Germany in December 2018. Helen has previously been engaged in youth partisan politics, including volunteering on provincial and federal election campaigns in Ontario and Nova Scotia, and has participated in youth delegations to the United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum, Israel and the West Bank, Japan, and Turkey.

Helen holds an MA in Public and International Affairs from the University of Ottawa, and a BA in Political Science and History from Dalhousie University. Helen also enjoys playing and coaching ringette.
