Announcing YDC’s 2023 Youth Delegation to the Y20 Summit in India

We are pleased to announce that Young Diplomats of Canada is sending a Canadian youth delegation to the 2023 Y20 Summit in Varanasi, India from August 17-20, 2023.

The Summit will bring together youth delegates from all G20 member countries and observers to negotiate, collaborate, and develop a youth communiqué that will be presented to the G20 Presidency.

The five themes that will be addressed during the conference include: Future of Work, Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, Shared Future, and Health, Wellbeing & Sports. 

This year’s Y20 delegation is an accomplished group of young Canadians from across the country. Delegates will aim to push for policies that address the thematic questions of this year's Y20 Summit while ensuring that the voices of Canada’s youth are represented on the global stage.


Meet the Y20 delegates:

Angela Minyi Hou Head Delegate Future of Work Track

Angela Minyi Hou is the Head Delegate of Canada’s Youth 20 Delegation and its negotiator in the “Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation & 21st Century Skills” track. She is a policy analyst working in the Government of Canada, with policy experience in the areas of mining, regulatory affairs, foreign and defense policy, and engagement with multilateral development banks. Angela is enthusiastic about international policy challenges relating to environmental sustainability, trade and investment, and development partnerships.


Laurence Leblanc Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator Peacebuilding and Reconciliation Track

Laurence is a global thinker who foregrounds her academic and policy work at the intersections of minority empowerment, gender equality, and environmental justice. She has lived in six countries over the past ten years completing three degrees related to international justice. She has gained practical exposure to international law in the form of working with community organizations in three languages.


Aubrey-Anne Laliberte-Pewapisconias Communications Coordinator Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Track

Aubrey-Anne Laliberte-Pewapisconias (she/her) is a nêhiyâskwew from Canoe Lake Cree First Nation and Little Pine First Nation. Aubrey is a recent graduate from the University of Saskatchewan with her Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, a Global Business Certificate, and an Indigenous Governance and Politics Certificate. Continuing her studies in her home territory, she is now pursuing her Master of Sustainability in Energy Security.


David He Engagement Coordinator Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance Track

Born and raised in British Columbia, David is passionate about making Canada more inclusive and equitable for all. In 2017, he founded The Global Spotlight, an international initiative that transforms youth into changemakers through stories and mentorship. Since then, David has led numerous community projects, including human libraries, conferences and town halls. As a part of Junior Team Canada, he served as an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) delegate to advocate for inclusive pandemic recovery policies.


Linxi Mytkolli Delegate Health, Wellbeing and Sports Track

Linxi Mytkolli is a seasoned participatory researcher with expertise in city building, youth wellbeing, and sustainability in healthcare. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from the University of Toronto. Currently, Linxi is the Lead of Patient Partnership and Knowledge Mobilization with Diabetes Action Canada, where she ensures that research about people living with diabetes is more equitable, applicable, and timely.
