Announcing YDC’s Youth Delegations for the 2023 WTO Public Forum, 2023 IMF-WBG Annual Meetings, and CSW68

We are excited to announce that the Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC) is sending youth delegations to represent Canada at three prestigious multilateral forums – the 2023 WTO Public Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, the 2023 IMF-WBG Annual Meetings in Marrakesh, Morocco, and the Commission for the Status of Women (CSW68) at UN Headquarters in New York City, United States.


About These Events

WTO Public Forum: The Public Forum is the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) largest outreach event, providing a unique platform for stakeholders from around the world to discuss the latest developments in global trade and to propose ways of enhancing the multilateral trading system.

The 2023 WTO Public Forum will take place September 12-15 in Geneva, Switzerland with a focus topic of how trade can contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

YDC will send a four-member delegation of young Canadians to attend as Observers. The delegation will attend Summit sessions, participate in stakeholder meetings, and interact with experts from around the world to strengthen their networks and gain deeper knowledge about the WTO’s mandate as well as international trade and finance.

IMF-WBG Annual Meetings: The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) bring together key stakeholders to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.

This year the IMF-WBG Annual Meetings will take place in Marrakesh, Morocco from October 9-15.

YDC will send a six-member delegation of Canadian youth to attend the Meetings as Observers. The IMF-WBG Annual Meetings are an exclusive opportunity for the delegates to observe, learn from, and participate in high-level discussions on international trade, finance, and comparative public policy.

CSW68: The UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and empowerment of women. During this annual two-week session, representatives of UN Member States, civil society organizations and UN entities discuss progress, gaps, emerging issues, and further actions that affect gender equality and the empowerment of women.

CSW68 will take place at UN Headquarters in New York City March 11-22, 2024. The Commission’s priority theme will be “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”.

YDC will send a four-member delegation of young Canadian leaders to attend and engage in the CSW including by submitting written statements, oral interventions, or organizing side/parallel events that will enable delegates to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders in order to inform their position on related issues and advocate for them in Canada.
