Announcing YDC’s Youth Delegations to the 2024 Y7, 2024 Y20, and 2024 UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
We are pleased to announce that the Young Diplomats of Canada are sending youth delegations to represent Canada at three upcoming international summits - the 2024 Youth 7 (Y7) in Italy, the 2024 Youth 20 (Y20) in Brazil, and the United Nations’ High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York City.
About The Delegations
Y7: The Y7 Summit is a youth leadership summit that brings together youth delegates from G7 member countries to create policy solutions to current global challenges. The Y7 Summit follows the G7 Summit and allows for delegates to influence global policymakers and the G7 itself. This youth-led event offers delegates the opportunity to grow their international experience, along with improving soft skills that can be used in future endeavours.
The 2024 Y7 will take place May 20-24 in Italy. Delegates will be assigned to contribute to one of four negotiating tracks: Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change; Innovation and Digital Transformation; New Skills, Entrepreneurship and the Future of Work; Inclusion and Equal Opportunities.

Y20: The Y20 Summit is the official youth counterpart to the annual G20 Leaders Summit. The Y20 brings together youth delegates and observers from all G20 member countries to develop and negotiate policy positions ahead of the G20 proceedings. The main outcome is a youth communiqué that is presented to the G20 Presidency to ensure that decisions made by ministers and leaders respect the needs and views of young people today.
The 2024 Y20 will take place in Summer 2024 in Brazil. Participating delegates will be assigned to contribute to negotiations on assigned themes in order to provide policy recommendations to G20 leaders.

UN HLPF: The United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is a core UN platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Meeting with delegates from around the world to discuss the SDGs and their applications, delegates have the chance to learn about international cooperation and have the chance to amplify youth voices and the issues they face daily.
The 2024 UN HLPF will take place July 8-17 in New York City. The theme for the 2024 HLPF is “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions” with a focus on Goals 1, 2, 13, 16, and 17.
