Ahdithya Visweswaran

Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Coordinator | ahdithya@youngdiplomats.ca

Ahdithya currently works at the Department of Canadian Heritage as a Junior Policy Analyst in the Official Languages Branch where he works to advance official bilingualism, linguistic duality and language rights of English- and French-speaking minorities across Canada.

In the past, Ahdithya has served on the City of Edmonton Youth Council in various capacities, including Vice-Chair of Engagement and Chair of the Council, where he acted as the voice of Edmonton's youth to City Council. Furthermore, it is through his involvement with the Association canadienne-française de l'Alberta and the Association des universitaires de la Faculté Saint-Jean that Ahdithya created #SauvonsSaintJean; a campaign to raise awareness of the realities of Francophone post-secondary education in Western Canada and to advocate for the necessary funding to support it at the University of Alberta's Campus Saint-Jean.

He is currently co-hosting a podcast entitled Les Francos oublié.e.s on which he invites French-speaking youth from various backgrounds to talk about their experience in the Canadian Francophonie and to highlight its diversity.

Ahdithya is pursuing a Bachelor of Political Science at Campus Saint-Jean. Upon graduation, he hopes to study law or public policy to continue the fight for the rights of Franco-Canadian minority communities.
