The G7 Youth Summit (Y7) is a youth leadership summit that brings together youth delegates from G7 member countries to create policy solutions to current global challenges. The Y7 Summit follows the G7 Summit and allows for delegates to influence global policymakers and the G7 itself. This youth-led event offers delegates the opportunity to grow their international experience, along with improving soft skills that can be used in future endeavours.

Delegates are given hands-on training in mediation, negotiation, and presentation to prepare them for the monumental activities that take place during the Summit. By adding the youth perspective to current global issues, the delegates open up communication for the future of youth on the global platform.

2025 Y7 Summit - Hosted by Young Diplomats of Canada

The 2025 Y7 Summit will be hosted in Ottawa, Canada from May 5-9, 2025.

Each year, ahead of the Leaders' Summit, young leaders from each of the G7 states assemble to develop, negotiate, and propose policy recommendations on behalf of young people to present to Heads of State. This process is known as the Y7. The purpose of the Y7 is to ensure that the decisions and agreements made by Ministers and Leaders of the G7 reflect the needs and views of young people today.

Once the delegation has been finalized, each delegate will be assigned one negotiation track. The negotiation tracks selected by the host (Canada) for 2025 are:

  1. AI and Digital Technology: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Transformation, Global Regulation, Cybersecurity, Online Harm, Disinformation.
