The United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is a core UN platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This Forum is held annually in New York, NY at the UN Headquarters. The UN General Assembly decided that the forum meets annually under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. 

Delegates have the chance to discuss, debate, and mediate over key issues that face youth today that are directly linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Meeting with delegates from around the world to discuss the Sustainable Development Goals and their applications, delegates have the chance to learn about international cooperation and have the chance to amplify youth voices and the issues they face daily. 

2023 Forum

The theme for the HLPF 2024 will be “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”. The 2024 HLPF will include discussion of the following SDGs: 

Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere

Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
