Passionate about international affairs and economic development, Alexandre Desmarais is currently evolving as a lawyer specialized in banking and finance at Dentons, a global law firm. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sherbrooke and was appointed as a member of the Quebec Bar in 2022. Alexandre feels the need to actively participate in society. In the past, he has volunteered on many occasions to help communities with limited access to health care or to help citizens, organizations and businesses in need of legal assistance.

Professionally, Alexandre has experience as a politician, a university researcher, and law-wise, in law firms, in a global scale company and in a major public investment fund . During the pandemic, he conducted two research projects related to the management of the health crisis in the world. One focused on the response of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the other, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), focused on States practices to address COVID-19 infection as a work-related injury.

Wishing to contribute to a healthy and prosperous Canada, Alexandre is ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead.
