United Nations High Level Political Forum

The HLPF is the main United Nations platform on sustainable development. It has a central role in the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the global level. 

The 2024 HLPF will be held from July 8th, to July 17th, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council in New York City. This year's theme will be “Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.


Malika Yoh, Head Delegate

Malika Yoh works for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) as an Official Languages Advisor and for the Novas Group as a Corporate Affairs Manager. Throughout her professional journey, she has demonstrated a strong dedication to sustainable development within organizational contexts. In her role as the Official Languages Advisor at CATSA, Malika actively fosters linguistic inclusivity and implements effective public policy development strategies. Her expertise extends beyond language advocacy to social and community initiatives, where she promotes diversity and cultural inclusion as integral components of sustainable development. Malika is currently pursuing a Masters in Industrial Relations at the University of Montreal, strategically elevating her expertise to navigate the complex intersections of labor, industry dynamics, sustainable development, public policy, and the crucial considerations of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Recognizing the importance of a sustainable foundation for unlocking progress in government key priorities, Malika is committed to connecting environmental stewardship with broader societal objectives.

Sasha Emery, Communications Coordinator

Sasha Emery is a francophone youth born in NWT and raised on the Traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council (Whitehorse, Yukon). She is currently enrolled in a BA in environmental and urban studies at the University of Ottawa. A big part of her climate activism consists of spreading awareness on the reality of climate change in the North as a member of the Prime Minister's Youth Council, the Natural Resource Canada Youth Council, and the Yukon Government Youth Panel on Climate Change. She is passionate about the intersectionality within the climate movement and how the UN's Sustainable Development Goals can be harnessed to shape solutions. She strives to empower youth and to challenge current unsustainable ways of living. She created and co-hosts a for youth by youth podcast called “Conversations climatiques” (climate conversations) to make accessible resources on climate anxiety and spread awareness on a diversity of environmental related topics for young French Canadians in minority-language settings. In her free time, she paints, dances, and hikes in the outdoors. She hopes this experience will allow her to gain insight on initiatives she can help implement in her community.

Anna Toderas, Engagement Coordinator

Anna is a dual degree undergraduate and master's student studying political economy and management at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Her internship at the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy has 'fueled' her passion for advancing the green energy transition, particularly through policy development and educational initiatives. Her latest research delves into the policy implications of integrating artificial intelligence into nuclear command and control systems, which she presented at the Trinity-IID Conference on Intelligence and Security. Stemming from her love of community involvement, Anna holds several leadership roles, including president, vice president, tutor, and graphic designer, across six UBC student clubs. In collaboration with Dr. Mark S. Williams, she is co-authoring a book on Canadian foreign policy, aiming to inspire more youth involvement in Canada's environmental and global security strategies. Anna is enthusiastic about representing Canadian youth at the 2024 HLPF and is eager to amplify their voices at the forefront of the sustainable development discussion!

Kerry Li, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator

Kerry Li holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Politics, and Philosophy from Western University and graduated top of her class. She was a Bobby T Jones Scholar at the University of St. Andrews where she studied Economics and Philosophy. An active member of the Global EA community, Kerry served on the Board of Immploy, a non-profit serving to connect and train immigrant talent to improved employment opportunities; is a volunteer Policy Coordinator with Re_Generation, a non-profit focused on advancing regenerative and sustainable business practices through education, advocacy, and research; and was the co-lead of Events at Inclusion in Impact Investing, a BIPOC investing community. She currently works in private equity investing and is passionate about positively impactful investment practices.
