Jathorsan Lingarajan

Calling both Toronto and Ottawa home, Jathorsan is a MA candidate at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, where he specializes in conflict analysis and resolution. He completed both his Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Development Studies and French, as well as his Bachelor of Education, from Queen’s University.  

As a teacher by training, Jathorsan is passionate about how education plays a role in international affairs and its impact on post-conflict peacebuilding, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region. As a former Intern at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canada, he worked to strengthen the bilateral trade relationship. In the past, Jathorsan has held many roles across various facets of government, including the Senate of Canada, the Federal Office of the Minister of Seniors and the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.

Jathorsan is an avid volunteer, having assisted at two public policy think tanks, led his student government during his undergraduate education, and served as a delegate for UNITE 2030, an organization that promotes the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Jathorsan currently works as a Trade Commissioner (Special Projects) for the Trade Commissioner Service at Global Affairs Canada.
