Marie-Chantal Plouffe

Recruitment Lead | marie-chantal@youngdiplomats.ca

Montréal, QC

Canadian and Mexican, Marie-Chantal lived most of her life in Quebec. Her trilingual upbringing and her interest in using the languages she knows in her work led her to pursue International Relations as a career path. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences at McGill University, where she explored her interests in migration, artificial intelligence, and climate action.

Her previous work has led her to intern at the Climate Reality Project Canada, work in youth outreach with McGill University and the Kahnawake Youth Center, and participate in a research project that identified the harms of AI in social media platforms on Canadian youth for a subsequent report submitted to the government for regulatory suggestions.

In the summer of 2025, she joined the Canadian ad hoc delegation to the Democracy Youth Summit in Tokyo, where prior to her in person participation, she led a national campaign exploring how Canadian youth understand and navigate their digital rights in the age of artificial intelligence. In Japan, she worked alongside peers from around the world to strengthen youth voices in democratic dialogue and international cooperation.

Rooted in her vision of international relations, she is committed to creating pathways for people with potential; those who are waiting for their first “yes” to begin their professional journey; to thrive and contribute to shaping a more inclusive global future. Now a polyglot, she loves to discover new languages when she has the chance!
