2021 G20 Youth Summit

The Summit will bring together youth delegates from all G20 member countries and observers to negotiate, collaborate, and develop a youth communiqué that will be presented to the G20 Presidency.

The Summit will take place in-person in the summer. The five themes that will be addressed during the conference include: 1) the fight against hunger, poverty and inequality; 2) Climate change, energy transition and sustainable development; 3) Global governance reform 4) Inclusion and diversity 5) Innovation and the future of work.

This year’s Y20 delegation is an accomplished group of young Canadians from across the country. Delegates will aim to push for policies that address the thematic questions of this year's Y20 Summit while ensuring that the voices of Canada’s youth are represented on the global stage.The Summit will bring together youth delegates from all G20 member countries and observers to negotiate, collaborate, and develop a youth communiqué that will be presented to the G20 Presidency.


Laura Bradbury, Head Delegate

Laura Bradbury is a 4th-year political science student at the University of Ottawa. Laura is actively engaged as an executive board member of the Ottawa chapter of the United Nations Association in Canada and at the Canadian International Council where she is co-developing a youth-centric approach for the future of Canadian bilateralism titled "The Youth Foreign Policy Framework". 

Laura has worked in several departments at the provincial and federal levels, including with the Open Government Team at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. Currently, Laura is a Policy Officer with Immigration, Citizenship and Refugees Canada in the International & Intergovernmental Relations division. 

Aside from her professional career, Laura's recent research interests include the commercialization of outer space technology and data-driven policy development processes to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. She hopes to bring an interdisciplinary approach to complement the work of her peers at the Y20 Summit in July 2021.

Jamilah Bahay is an aspiring Canadian Diplomat and advocate for addressing inequality on a global scale. She is especially passionate about sustainable economic development and has focussed her young professional career on discovering solutions for environmental sustainability and social equity within the realm of international economic development.


Jamilah is a proud Canadian who completed her Bachelors degree in her home town at the University of Calgary, in International Relations and Management. Currently, she is a Master student of International Affairs, Trade and International Finance at the Graduate Institute of Geneva (IHEID), Switzerland. In Geneva, she is an Executive Board Member for the Junior Diplomat Initiative Switzerland (JDI) where she and her colleagues enable tomorrow's leaders to engage on the frontlines of diplomacy.

Having lived in Canada, France and Switzerland, Jamilah has had the opportunity to participate in leadership roles within admirable organizations who are vehicles for positive social and economic change such as TEDxMontréal and the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA). As a Y20 2021 Delegate Jamilah hopes to continue to be an exemplary leader for positive change on both a Canadian and International scale.

Keely Bass, Communications Coordinator

Keely Bass is a skilled communications and policy professional, based in Whitehorse. She grew up in Vancouver and completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia. Keely is an avid traveller and has spent time living in Spain and Hong Kong. In 2019, Keely graduated with a Master in International Relations from the IE School of Global and Public Affairs in Madrid. During her Master’s program, she worked as a Student Advisor for the NATO Policy Planning Unit, focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence and defence. 

She has a passion for innovative governance, sustainable development and international affairs. For the last year and a half, Keely has worked for the Yukon government as a Communications and Policy Analyst. In these roles, she has led projects on gender-inclusive spaces, green energy and digital identity. She has also worked as an Information Officer during COVID-19, helping to coordinate the Yukon government’s response to the pandemic. In her spare time, she sits on the board of Volunteer Yukon and enjoys hiking and learning Spanish.  

Keely is an advocate for citizen participation and inclusivity in decision-making forums, especially for women, youth and Indigenous peoples. In the future, Keely hopes to bring more Northern voices to global conversations, especially those concerning climate change and digitalization. She is honoured to represent Canadian youth and looks forward to bringing her policy background and Northern lens to the Y20 Summit in Milan, Italy.
