2023 G20 Youth Summit
The Summit will bring together youth delegates from all G20 member countries and observers to negotiate, collaborate, and develop a youth communiqué that will be presented to the G20 Presidency.
The Summit will take place in-person in the summer. The five themes that will be addressed during the conference include: 1) the fight against hunger, poverty and inequality; 2) Climate change, energy transition and sustainable development; 3) Global governance reform 4) Inclusion and diversity 5) Innovation and the future of work.
This year’s Y20 delegation is an accomplished group of young Canadians from across the country. Delegates will aim to push for policies that address the thematic questions of this year's Y20 Summit while ensuring that the voices of Canada’s youth are represented on the global stage. The Summit will bring together youth delegates from all G20 member countries and observers to negotiate, collaborate, and develop a youth communiqué that will be presented to the G20 Presidency.
Angela Minyi Hou, Head Delegate
Angela Minyi Hou is the Head Delegate of Canada’s Youth 20 Delegation and its negotiator in the “Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation & 21st Century Skills” track. She is a policy analyst working in the Government of Canada, with policy experience in the areas of mining, regulatory affairs, foreign and defense policy, and engagement with multilateral development banks. Angela is enthusiastic about international policy challenges relating to environmental sustainability, trade and investment, and development partnerships.
She previously served as Head Delegate of Young Diplomats of Canada’s 2021 delegation to the World Trade Organization’s Public Forum. Angela holds a Masters in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Prior to this, Angela graduated from the University of Toronto in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Relations and Contemporary Asian Studies. She has a Chinese-Canadian background with roots in Shanghai and Toronto.
Born and raised in British Columbia, David is passionate about making Canada more inclusive and equitable for all. In 2017, he founded The Global Spotlight, an international initiative that transforms youth into changemakers through stories and mentorship. Since then, David has led numerous community projects, including human libraries, conferences and town halls. As a part of Junior Team Canada, he served as an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) delegate to advocate for inclusive pandemic recovery policies.
Having gone through a series of personal transformations, David believes that change comes from within. He has proudly shared his story through 3 TEDx talks, hoping to inspire others to stand up for themselves and their community.
As a member of the Prime Minister’s Youth Council, David advised senior government officials on two federal budgets, inclusive vaccine rollout and building diplomatic ties with youth abroad. He lived and studied at Pearson College UWC alongside students of over 150 nationalities. Today, David is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in economics as a Terry Fox Scholar at Bates College, a liberal arts institution in the United States. In his free time, David enjoys hiking, canoeing, and is an avid DJ of music from all cultures.
Linxi Mykolli, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator
Linxi Mytkolli is a seasoned participatory researcher with expertise in city building, youth wellbeing, and sustainability in healthcare. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from the University of Toronto.
Her career in participatory research began with an urban fellowship program that led her to work with Youthful Cities. There, she worked with over 350 young people across 12 Canadian cities and six global cities to better understand their experiences living in urban centers. During the pandemic, Linxi led the development of a national-scale employment and research program (PIVOT 2020) that employed over 1,200 young people and co-published a free, open source data hub that highlights youth voices across 3,000+ survey responses, 20,000 minutes of interviews, and an index containing over 23,000+ data points, allowing users to compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative data across 47 Canadian cities and 23 topics.Linxi is also a dedicated volunteer and passionate about giving back to her communities. She serves as the Vice-Chair of the Rise on Boards Steering Committee with Fora, the Future of Public Education Advisory Committee with People for Education, and the Mental Health Advisory Council with JDRF.
Currently, Linxi is the Lead of Patient Partnership and Knowledge Mobilization with Diabetes Action Canada, where she ensures that research about people living with diabetes is more equitable, applicable, and timely. Prior to this role, she was a Senior Program Manager with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, supporting a national suicide prevention and life promotion program.
Aubrey-Anne Lailberte-Pewapisconias, Communications Coordinator
Aubrey-Anne Laliberte-Pewapisconias (she/her) is a nêhiyâskwew from Canoe Lake Cree First Nation and Little Pine First Nation. Aubrey is a recent graduate from the University of Saskatchewan with her Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, a Global Business Certificate, and an Indigenous Governance and Politics Certificate. Continuing her studies in her home territory, she is now pursuing her Master of Sustainability in Energy Security.
Aubrey is an Indigenous Youth Advocate and Environmentalist following her ancestral teachings of protecting Mother Earth for our future generations. Furthering this and promoting collaboration with Indigenous Peoples in a clean energy future, she attended the UNFCCC COP27 with Indigenous Clean Energy's delegation. Her passions have also led her to be in the first cohort of Generation Power, a previous National Ambassador of Hope with We Matter, and the previous National Student Director for Cando. Her work extends through her time involved with numerous Indigenous organizations such as SIGA, Tatâga Inc., Canadian Roots Exchange, and more. As a Y20 delegate holding the role of Communications Coordinator and following the climate track, Aubrey is excited to bring the perspectives of youth, in what is currently called Canada, to these tables and to amplify the urgency of our reconnection with Mother Earth.
