Jean-Michel Athot, Head Delegate

Jean-Michel's roots lie in a Gaspésie fishing village, where early influences, especially from his grandfather, subtly shaped his community-focused outlook. A significant trip to WWI and WWII cemeteries in Europe at 15 quietly sparked a lifelong interest in peace and diplomacy.

His academic journey, encompassing studies in Belgium, Germany, Norway, China, and Canada, complemented by humanitarian experiences in Mexico and Ecuador, provided him with a broad perspective on world affairs. Jean-Michel's diverse roles, from being an ocean lifeguard to playing American football with the Brussels Black Angels, contributed to a well-rounded character, blending responsibility with team dynamics.

In his role at Québec International during the pandemic, Jean-Michel's contributions were key in assisting businesses through tough times. Currently, as a parliamentary analyst at Global Affairs Canada, he brings a nuanced understanding of global issues.

Looking to the future, he is excited about representing Canadian youth at the Y20 2024 summit. Jean-Michel plans to use his experiences to contribute to international dialogues and collaborative global solutions.
