Internet Governance Forum 2019
The Fourteenth Annual Meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was hosted by the Government of Germany in Berlin from 25 to 29 November 2019 under the overarching theme: One World. One Net. One Vision.
The Young Diplomats of Canada sent Julia, as our delegate. Julia is a designer working in creative software. During her studies at McGill University in Economics and Communications, she contributed to 'Cyber Infrastructure: Advancing a Gender Sensitive approach to ICT Policy in Uganda' a policy report for the Women of Uganda Network. Now, she uses the lenses of Internet Governance and Economics to approach product design. Julia is fascinated by ethical questions and dichotomies between ideals like ease-of-use and security in the design process. She strives to educate digital designers on pertinent issues in the field of Internet Governance, so that designers can be a meaningful part of moving us towards the fifth principle of Digital Inclusion: applications and online content designed to enable and encourage self-sufficiency, participation and collaboration. Currently Julia works as a designer at WeTransfer, where she focuses on Transfer, a platform that enables 50 million people around the world to send files for free every month.
