Y20 2020 YDC Delegation Report

Executive Summary

The Y20 is a forum for developing cooperation between future generations and provides a platform for young people to have their voices heard on relevant G20 agenda issues. As a formal engagement group of the G20, it allows for the presentation of youth-specific priorities to heads of state from a large group of countries. This year’s Y20 Summit took place virtually in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from the 15 to 17 October 2020. This was the first time they had hosted the event.

Three Canadian youth represented their country at this year’s Y20 Summit, chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Sebastian Muermann (Head Delegate), Leah Davidson and Delaney Murphy each led on a specific priority area of the summit, participating, consulting and negotiating actively for over 6 months starting in March of 2020. Their priority areas were Global Citizenship, Future Fit, and Youth Empowerment, respectively. This document summarizes the milestones and achievements of their participation. The delegation would like to thank Young Diplomats of Canada for the opportunity, as well as the staff members that assisted in this work.
